Purpose of National Committees and Task Forces: National Committees and Task Forces are responsible for proposing policies and initiatives to support the execution of the Sorority strategic plan. Committee members are expected to contribute personal and professional expertise as well as their varied experiences within Lambda Theta Alpha.

Below you will find more detailed information regarding each committee and task force opportunity available. National Committee + Task Force Descriptions

  • National Constitution and Standing Rules Committee

    The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a Chair, who will convene to review all proposed amendments to the sorority’s National Constitution and Standing Rules. The activities of this committee shall be, but are not limited to, author all amendment-related communications and provide the appropriate forms and timeline to the membership, work simultaneously to review and determine amendment recommendations, and submit an amended National Constitution after the Annual Convention Business Meeting.

  • Cultural Competency and Belonging

    The committee is seeking a Chair, who will convene to alleviate the disparities, bias, -isms and other barriers experienced by members through education, programming, outreach, advocacy, support circles, and powerful partnerships that creates an equitable, inclusive, and engaging environment. This committee further solidifies our organization’s understanding and commitment to equity and belonging as the standard.

  • National Elections Committee

    The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a Chair, who will convene to promote and advance the elections process of the sorority. The committee shall uphold the elections guidelines and provide training for Elections Coordinators. The activities of this committee shall be, but are not limited to, coordination of the sorority's elections process and timeline, provide training to Election Coordinators to execute local elections, verify eligibility of all candidates, and execute and report on the national elections.

  • National Expansion Committee

    The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including all RRRSs, who will convene to develop and oversee strategic expansion plans for the sorority. The committee shall also oversee national expansion groups working towards establishing/re-activating chapters of the sorority. The activities of this committee shall be, but are not limited to, create strategic expansion plans for each region, and provide education and oversight of all national expansion groups.

  • National Finance Committee

    The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a Chair, who will convene to provide financial oversight and promote financial stewardship for the sorority. The activities of the committee shall be, but are not limited to, making recommendations for items outlined in financial policies and protocols to include in the Financial Internal Controls and developing national initiatives such as informative newsletters, social media posts and webinars.

  • National Philanthropy Committee

    The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a Chair, who will convene to develop strategic plans to increase awareness and participation for the sorority’s national philanthropies St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Lambda Theta Alpha Foundation. This committee will also assess the sorority’s commitment to other philanthropic efforts that may arise out of necessity. The National Philanthropy Committee in conjunction with the Lambda Theta Alpha Foundation, shall be responsible for aiding areas/regions that are affected by natural disasters and other catastrophic events through communications with information related to local relief organizations that assist with aid and support along with member support initiatives.

  • National Recruitment and Retention Committee

    The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a Chair, who will convene to develop methods to monitor membership status and trends, and recommend strategies for recruitment and retention of members and chapters. The activities of this committee shall be, but are not limited to, provide recommendations on recruitment strategies, work with the National Public Relations Committee on marketing tools for recruitment, and support member training.

  • National Alumnae Affairs Committee

    The committee is seeking a minimum of seven members, each representing a region, including a chair, to convene to develop initiatives to improve the sorority alumnae experience and recommend strategies for alumnae retention. The activities of this committee shall be, but are not limited to, carry out alumnae-focused national initiatives, and ongoing research on alumnae experience enhancements.

  • National Technology Special Committee

    The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a chair, who shall serve to assist with the role of technology in executing the organization’s operation and strategic plan. The special committee shall also support such strategy and operations through evaluations and recommendations regarding technology and operational risk, including, but not limited to information security, cybersecurity risks, data protection, and organizational continuity.

  • Promesa Program Task Force

    The Promesa Program Task Force is our response to support undergraduate chapters in need of assistance with the recruitment and retention of interested members due to the low number of active members. Oftentimes, members at chapter's below the Minimum Member Policy are unable to effectively recruit and retain interested members due to being at their maximum in other chapter responsibilities. This program is available to undergraduate chapters on an opt-in basis. Task Force members will recruit, prepare, and engage with Interested Members to support these chapters. Task Force members must be an active alumnae in good standing with either PL1 or PL2 status and have experience overseeing interested members either at the undergraduate or alumna level. Candidates applying to be a Promesa Representative at the same institution where they were initiated and graduated from are preferred.
