Purpose of National Committees and Task Forces: National Committees and Task Forces are responsible for proposing policies and initiatives to support the execution of the Sorority strategic plan. Committee members are expected to contribute personal and professional expertise as well as their varied experiences within Lambda Theta Alpha.

National Constitution and Standing Rules Committee
The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a Chair, who will convene to review all proposed amendments to the sorority’s National Constitution and Standing Rules. The activities of this committee shall be, but are not limited to, author all amendment-related communications and provide the appropriate forms and timeline to the membership, work simultaneously to review and determine amendment recommendations, and submit an amended National Constitution after the Annual Convention Business Meeting.

Cultural Competency and Belonging
The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a Chair, who will convene to alleviate the disparities, bias, -isms and other barriers experienced by members through education, programming, outreach, advocacy, support circles, and powerful partnerships that creates an equitable, inclusive, and engaging environment. This committee further solidifies our organization’s understanding and commitment to equity and belonging as the standard.

National Elections Committee
The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a Chair, who will convene to promote and advance the elections process of the sorority. The committee shall uphold the elections guidelines and provide training for Elections Coordinators. The activities of this committee shall be, but are not limited to, coordination of the sorority's elections process and timeline, provide training to Election Coordinators to execute local elections, verify eligibility of all candidates, and execute and report on the national elections.

National Events Committee
The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a Chair, to assist with planning sorority national events and National Convention. Committee members should be available to work on convention matters, research and/or planning for at least 5-10 hours per week, available for weekly meetings, comfortable working in groups, excellent at meeting tight deadlines consistently and possess great communication and writing skills. Applicants should be alumnae in good standing and must be available to attend the National Convention and any national events planned by the committee.

National Expansion Committee
The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including all RRRSs, who will convene to develop and oversee strategic expansion plans for the sorority. The committee shall also oversee national expansion groups working towards establishing/re-activating chapters of the sorority. The activities of this committee shall be, but are not limited to, create strategic expansion plans for each region, and provide education and oversight of all national expansion groups.

National Finance Committee
The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a Chair, who will convene to provide financial oversight and promote financial stewardship for the sorority. The activities of the committee shall be, but are not limited to, making recommendations for items outlined in financial policies and protocols to include in the Financial Internal Controls and developing national initiatives such as informative newsletters, social media posts and webinars.

National History Committee
The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a Chair, who will convene to preserve the sorority’s history and develop methods to retain and inherit its developing history. The activities of the committee shall be, but are not limited to, documenting the sorority's history, maintaining the national archives, and preserving the history by keeping regular communication with regions and areas.

National Judicial Committee
The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a Chair, who will convene to oversee the sorority’s judicial process, including evaluating cases and applying sanctions. The committee shall assist with the maintenance of the national sanctions list. The activities of the committee shall be, but are not limited to, reviewing complaints and serve as a consulting body for assistance in carrying out investigations, sanctions, or disciplinary action of members.

National Leadership Development and Standards Committee
The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a Chair, who will convene to develop resources for member development for service within the sorority and enhancement of leadership skills transferable to professional and personal life, and assist with all aspects of learning and development. The activities of this committee shall be, but are not limited to, overseeing the implementation of the Lambda Ladies as Empowered Advocates for Diversity (LLEAD) program, and conduct ongoing research to benchmark the sorority amongst its peers and make recommendations accordingly.

National Orientation Committee
The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a Chair, who will convene to provide recommendations to address issues relating to the sorority’s New Member Education Program (LUNA), and the process of assimilating new members into their chapters. The committee shall advise on orientee education and shall consider issues relating to current Greek life intake trends in higher education and beyond.

National Philanthropy Committee
The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a Chair, who will convene to develop strategic plans to increase awareness and participation for the sorority’s national philanthropies St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Lambda Theta Alpha Foundation. This committee will also assess the sorority’s commitment to other philanthropic efforts that may arise out of necessity. The National Philanthropy Committee in conjunction with the Lambda Theta Alpha Foundation, shall be responsible for aiding areas/regions that are affected by natural disasters and other catastrophic events through communications with information related to local relief organizations that assist with aid and support along with member support initiatives.

National Political Education Initiative Committee
The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a Chair, who will convene to develop and promote the sorority’s non-partisan political education initiatives and incentivize members to participate in the political environment. The committee will develop the relevant action plans, timelines, and supporting materials and resources that can be dispersed to the membership. The activities of this committee shall be, but are not limited to, maintain non-partisan partnerships, promote political education, and carry out the Annual Lambda Hill Days event.

National Public Relations Committee
The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a Chair, who will convene to develop and organize the sorority’s public relations/marketing efforts also known as the sorority’s visual identity/brand and the Brand Identity Guidelines. The committee will develop action plans, timelines, and supporting material that can be dispersed to the membership and other related groups. The activities of this committee shall be, but are not limited to, consistent updates to online content, public relations, national communications related to national initiatives, and recommendations on updates to brand guidelines.

National Recruitment and Retention Committee
The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a Chair, who will convene to develop methods to monitor membership status and trends, and recommend strategies for recruitment and retention of members and chapters. The activities of this committee shall be, but are not limited to, provide recommendations on recruitment strategies, work with the National Public Relations Committee on marketing tools for recruitment, and support member training.

National Risk Management Committee
The committee is seeking a minimum of five members to convene to evaluate and administer risk management programs to resolve sorority risk through the examination of the possibility of loss caused by any uncontrolled event. The activities of this committee shall include, but are not limited to, assist with implementing and maintaining a sound system of risk oversight, management and internal control. Periodically, but not less than annually, reviewing the organization's Risk Management Manual to follow current University trends in judicial sanctioning and risk management policies and procedures. Assist with the development of educational resources for members during crisis situations.

National Alumnae Affairs Committee
The committee is seeking a minimum of seven members, each representing a region, including a chair, to convene to develop initiatives to improve the sorority alumnae experience and recommend strategies for alumnae retention. The activities of this committee shall be, but are not limited to, carry out alumnae-focused national initiatives, and ongoing research on alumnae experience enhancements.

National Undergraduate Affairs Committee
The committee is seeking a minimum of seven members, each representing a region, including a chair, to convene to develop initiatives to improve the sorority undergraduate experience and recommend strategies for undergraduate retention. The activities of this committee shall be, but are not limited to, carry out undergraduate-focused national initiatives, support the DUA on education and implementation of initiatives, and ongoing research on undergraduate experience enhancements.

National Identity and Traditions Committee
The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a Chair. An open non-voting seat shall be available to all Founding Mothers and Alpha Chapter’s First Line not serving on the committee, but wishing to participate. Members of the committee must be active alumnae in good standing with membership of at least 15 years and possess a strong understanding of the sorority’s historical milestones and how pivotal events and traditions came about. Specifically seeking committee members with strong consultative, writing and communication skills, the ability to collaborate and partner with various other committees and availability to attend biweekly committee meetings.

National Technology Special Committee
The committee is seeking a minimum of five members, including a chair, who shall serve to assist with the role of technology in executing the organization’s operation and strategic plan. The special committee shall also support with the implementing and migration to a new organizational platform and evaluate and make recommendations regarding technology and operational risk, including, but not limited to information security, cybersecurity risks, data protection, and organizational continuity.

Promesa Program Task Force
The Promesa Program Task Force is our response to support undergraduate chapters in need of assistance with the recruitment and retention of interested members due to the low number of active members. Oftentimes, members at chapter's below the Minimum Member Policy are unable to effectively recruit and retain interested members due to being at their maximum in other chapter responsibilities. This program is available to undergraduate chapters on an opt-in basis. Task Force members will recruit, prepare, and engage with Interested Members to support these chapters. Task Force members must be an active alumnae in good standing with either PL1 or PL2 status and have experience overseeing interested members either at the undergraduate or alumna level. Candidates applying to be a Promesa Representative at the same institution where they were initiated and graduated from are preferred.

Health and Wellness Task Force
The Health and Wellness Task Force was created to focus on promoting health and wellness while identifying major factors that contribute to our memberships overall wellness and shall be inclusive of all so as to target the total health spectrum. The goal of this group is to enhance, foster, and explore ways to improve physical, mental, emotional, and overall holistic health of our members via the development and coordination of activities promoting community and individual health and wellbeing.
